whatsHappening ("the app", "we", "us") helps you discover live music, comedy, club nights, theatre and other events happening near you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the whatsHappening mobile app on iOS and Android.
We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, profile, contacts, or advertising identifiers. The limited data we do process is anonymous and tied only to a random device-level identifier, never to your real-world identity.
| Data | Why | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Crash & performance data (via Sentry) |
Detect and fix crashes and slow screens so the app stays reliable. | No |
| Product interaction screens viewed, events tapped, filters used (via PostHog) |
Understand which features and events people find useful so we can improve them. | No |
| Search length (a number only) |
Gauge how people search. We record the length of a search, never the text you typed. | No |
| Feedback you send message text, and an email only if you choose to type one |
Read and respond to your feedback and support requests. | Only if you include contact details |
If you allow location access, your device's location is used on your device only — to centre the map on where you are. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers and never attached to any analytics or crash event. You can use the app without granting location permission.
We use a small number of trusted service providers, chosen for privacy and hosted in the EU where possible:
Event listings themselves come from third-party ticketing sources. When you tap through to buy a ticket, you leave whatsHappening and the destination site's own privacy policy applies.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We keep the data we hold to a minimum, which is the strongest protection of all.
whatsHappening is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Whether something's broken, an event looks wrong, or you've got a feature idea, we want to hear it. There are two ways to get in touch:
To help us help you faster, it's useful to mention:
We aim to reply within a few business days. whatsHappening is anonymous, so if you'd like a response, please include an email address in your message.
Events are aggregated from third-party ticketing sources and refreshed daily. If a listing's details (time, price, venue) look off, the source site is the authority — but please tell us so we can investigate the feed.
